It also ensures more eyes actually land on your message and encourages more engagement! Lastly, be bold. Make your value known. Remember: Your business and offers solve a problem(s) for your clients. If you don’t let them know you’re here, they may look somewhere else for the help they need or never fix it! Do them (and yourself!) this favor.   This (and you!) are a big freakin’ deal and your people should be hyped to hear all about it! Imagine yourself getting a launch email from someone you know and love about their shiny new business that they poured their heart and soul into. Wouldn’t you want to help them out? You wouldn’t be bothered â€" you’d be proud! â€"because you’re awesome like that. Armed with all of this knowledge and power: write or swipe away! Email #1: Write to pitch directly to potential clients (a.k.a people you know might want or could use your service.) Not only is this email to let them know you’re up and running, but it’s also to let them know you thought of them first. Point out the conversation you guys had that circulated around your offers or what made them come to mind! It could look like this: Hi so and so! [insert something personal and relevant here] I’m writing to let you know I’ve officially launched my business [insert biz name website link] and I’m so excited to tell you about it! I thought of you immediately thanks to [insert what made you think of them i.e. a conversation, FB post, etc.] and wanted to make sure I gave you first dibs. The business itself helps [insert elevator pitch info here!], and you can get all the details about my offer right here [link to your Work With Me page]. Best, [Your name] Email #2: Write to ask for an introduction Send this email out to the folks you know who know somebody. This might mean they’re friendly with other people in the industry you’re looking to work with, or they specifically said something like “My niece could use that!” when you told them about your business idea. As in the first email, it’s worth it to offer this person a referral discount on your services, too! Hi so and so! [insert something personal and relevant here] I’m writing to let you know I’ve officially launched my business [insert biz name and website link], which [insert elevator pitch info here] . I’ve been thinking of you and your relationship with [insert the person/industry you want to be connected to], so I wanted to pass this on right away. I’d love an introduction since I know that I can help them with [insert their problem here]. If you are open to connecting us, I would so appreciate it! Additionally, I’d be more than happy to offer them my service(s) [insert your offer name and Work With Me link] at a discounted referral rate. Feel free to pass along my information here [insert website contact info], let me know his/her email address so I can reach out directly, or send an introductory email to us both. Whatever is easiest for you works for me! In the meantime, if there are ways I can support you in your personal or professional endeavors, just let me know! This last email is your catch-all. But sometimes its smart to take the interview, even when you already know you dont want the job. Im not even sure why I ask thats always the deal unless otherwise specified.Some recent interactions have me thinking a lot about how much I just love exclamation points And how uncertain I sort of somewhat maybe sound in my emails. I make myself come across as an overeager pushover (Im not), and Im potentially losing credibility because of it.While putting periods in place of exclamation points pains me at points (I also have a thing for alliteration its unintentional, I swear), Ive been working on it. And Ive also been mulling over my evidently questionable email punctuation choices in general. So after taking a deep dive into some cringe-worthy reviews of my own email exchanges, Ive decided how Ill try to use punctuation going forward and why. And you may want to consider these guidelines, too.Periods They set the ton e that you mean business. Periods take precedence over exclamation points. Theyre simply the most benign punctuation option. Theyre also definitive and clear, which is how Id like my professional emails to read. Exclamation Points They set the precedence that youre either not being genuine or just overeager. Unless Im wishing someone happy holidays or a happy birthday, Im going to strive to steer clear of exclamation points. Women are too often afraid of coming across as bossy if they dont go out of their way to be the smiling suckers were socialized to be, but I want to be a boss so, so be it.Ellipses I dont see a real need for the ellipses in most email conversations besides, they usually imply incomplete thoughts. Emails should have complete thoughts and, ifa thought isnt yet complete, perhaps that email shouldnt yet be sent.Question Marks I vow never to use a question mark unless I am, indeed, asking a question. A legitimate question to which I dont already know the answer. An d a question that doesnt give someone else the ability to walk all over me, like the aforementioned one.Parentheses The way I see it, theres always a way to avoid parentheses. They break up thoughts and, therefore, generally make sentences harder to read. The Bank will reportedly step up its diversity and inclusion in three ways by recruiting more diverse talent, by creating a more inclusive culturethat encourages people to openly debate,challenge and present ideas, and that supports them whenworking on something new, and by creating inclusive communications.Carney mentioned various initiatives in his speech, but one that stood out in terms ofthe Banks commitment to diverse hiring was a set of goals.The institutionseeks to triple both the proportions of women in our senior roles, to 35% by 2020, and of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic workers in these roles to 13% by 2022.Science-backed reasons to strive for inclusion at workTaking a diverse approach at work will not only ensure that employees feel more included, but it can have an impact on how much money a companygenerates.A McKinsey report that studied proprietary data sets for 366 public companies in different types of industries in Canada, Latin America, the United Kingdom, and the United States found that companies in the top quartile for racial and ethnic diversity are 35 percent more likely to have financial returns above their respective national industry medians.The same report found that gender diversity can lead to higher company earnings, or EBIT.I n the United Kingdom, greater gender diversity on the senior-executive team corresponded to the highest performance uplift in our data set for every 10 percent increase in gender diversity, EBIT rose by 3.5 percent, the McKinsey article said.Another case was made for gender diversity.MIT News reported that a study co-authored by a researcher from the university found that shifting from an all-male or all-female bro to one split evenly along gender lines could increase revenue by roughly 41 percent. The study reportedly drew from eight years of revenue data and survey results, covering 1995 to 2002, from a professional-services firm with more than 60 offices in the United States and abroad.The Bank of Englands push to be more inclusivereflects the growing need for many companies to see the benefits of challenging traditional hiring practices.
